Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information the ServiceZoneX Android applications and this website collect, why we collect it, who processes it on our behalf, and how you can have it deleted. It is written to be read, not to be waded through.
Who we are and what this covers
ServiceZoneX (also published as MobileServiceZoneX) is an independent software studio. We are the data controller for the information described here.
This policy applies to:
- our Android applications published on Google Play, including Earphone Mode Off (com.mobileservicezonex.earphonemodeoffon) and Headphone Mode Off (com.mobileservicezonex.headphonemodeoff);
- this website, servicezonex.com, including its enquiry form.
Separately negotiated client engagements and enterprise deployments are governed by the contract and data processing terms agreed with that client, not by this policy.
The short version
- The apps have no accounts and no sign-in. We never ask you for your name, address or phone number inside an app.
- The apps are free and supported by advertising. Ads are served by Google AdMob, which uses your device’s advertising identifier.
- We use Google Firebase to count feature usage, deliver crash reports and send notifications. This is device-level data, not your identity.
- We do not sell your personal information, and we do not collect your location, contacts, photos, microphone audio, call logs or messages.
- You can reset or delete your advertising ID at any time in Android settings, and you can ask us to delete anything we hold.
What the apps collect
The apps collect no information that identifies you by name. They do allow third-party services to collect device-level and usage information automatically, as set out below.
| Information | Collected by | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Advertising ID and ad interaction data (ads shown, taps, approximate region derived from IP address) | Google AdMob and its mediation partners | Serving and measuring the ads that fund the app; limiting repeat ads; detecting invalid traffic |
| App and device data — app instance identifier, app version, device model, operating system version, language, country, and in-app events such as screens opened and features used | Google Analytics for Firebase | Understanding which features are used so we can improve them |
| Crash diagnostics — crash and error stack traces, device state at the time of the crash, and a Crashlytics installation identifier | Firebase Crashlytics | Finding and fixing crashes and bugs |
| Push token — a registration identifier for your installation | Firebase Cloud Messaging | Delivering notifications the app sends you |
| Configuration requests — app and device attributes sent when fetching settings | Firebase Remote Config | Changing app settings and rolling out features without an update |
These identifiers are pseudonymous: they describe an installation on a device, not a named person. Under laws such as the GDPR they are still treated as personal data, which is why they are disclosed here.
Permissions, and what we do not collect
The apps request only the permissions their features need:
| Permission | Why the app needs it |
|---|---|
| Bluetooth / Bluetooth connect | Detecting when headphones or earphones connect or disconnect — the core function of the app |
| Modify audio settings | Applying the audio behaviour you have chosen when a device connects |
| Notifications | Showing the status and alerts you have enabled |
| Foreground service / run at startup / wake lock | Keeping detection running reliably in the background |
| Read media audio / storage | Letting you pick an audio file from your device for playback features |
| Internet / network state | Loading ads, configuration and crash reports |
| Advertising ID (AD_ID) | Required by Android so that AdMob can serve and measure ads |
What this website collects
If you submit the enquiry form on servicezonex.com, we receive the information you type into it: your name, email address, the engineering domain you select, your project overview, and your phone number if you choose to provide one. It is stored in Google Cloud Firestore and used only to reply to you and to discuss the work you asked about.
Our web server also writes standard access logs containing your IP address, the page requested, the time, and your browser’s user-agent string. These are kept for a short period for security and troubleshooting. This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies.
Why we use this information
- To provide the app’s features — detecting audio devices and applying your settings.
- To fund free apps through advertising — the apps carry no purchase price, so advertising pays for their development.
- To fix problems — crash reports tell us what broke, on which device and in which version.
- To improve the product — aggregate usage tells us which features earn their place.
- To respond to you — answering enquiries sent through the website.
For users in the EEA and UK, our legal basis is consent for personalised advertising and any non-essential analytics (requested in the app through Google’s consent form), and our legitimate interest in a working, maintainable product for crash diagnostics and security logging. Where you contact us, we process your message to take steps at your request.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it with anyone for their own independent marketing. Information is processed by the service providers that make the apps work:
- Google — AdMob advertising, Analytics for Firebase, Crashlytics, Cloud Messaging, Remote Config and Cloud Firestore. See the Google Privacy Policy and how Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
- Advertising mediation partners — where an app uses mediation, additional advertising networks integrated through AdMob may receive your advertising identifier in order to bid on and serve an ad. Google lists these partners in its AdMob partner documentation.
We may also disclose information where the law requires it — for example to comply with a court order, regulatory requirement or lawful request — or where it is necessary to protect the rights, property or safety of our users, the public or ServiceZoneX.
Advertising and your choices
Our apps show ads from Google AdMob. Ads may be personalised (chosen using your advertising identifier and inferred interests) or non-personalised (chosen from context alone). You are in control of which:
- In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, the app shows a consent form before personalised ads are served. You may decline, and you can change your choice later from the app’s privacy or settings option.
- On any Android device, open Settings → Privacy → Ads to reset your advertising ID or delete it entirely. Deleting it stops apps receiving that identifier.
- Across Google services, you can turn off ad personalisation at My Ad Center.
Declining personalised ads does not remove ads from the app, and it does not reduce any feature you have access to.
How long it is kept
- Analytics data is retained by Google for the retention period configured on our Firebase project, after which it is deleted automatically.
- Crash reports are retained by Firebase Crashlytics for a limited diagnostic window set by Google and are then removed.
- Advertising data is retained by Google under its own policies; resetting or deleting your advertising ID severs the link to your device.
- Website enquiries are kept for as long as needed to handle your enquiry and any resulting engagement, and are deleted on request.
- Web server logs are rotated and deleted on a rolling basis.
Requesting your data or its deletion
Our apps do not offer account creation or sign-in, so there is no account to delete and no profile held in your name. What can be acted on is the device-level data described above, and anything you sent us through the website.
Write to admin@servicezonex.com, or use the enquiry form on servicezonex.com, and tell us what you would like: a copy of what we hold, a correction, or deletion. Please include the app name and, if your request concerns advertising or analytics data, your advertising ID (Android Settings → Privacy → Ads) so that the right records can be found.
We answer within 30 days. There is no charge, and exercising these rights costs you nothing in terms of access to the apps.
Children’s privacy
Our apps are general-audience utilities. They are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we delete it promptly.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, contact admin@servicezonex.com and we will take the necessary action.
Security
Traffic to this website and to our services is encrypted in transit with TLS. Enquiries are stored in Google Cloud Firestore under access rules that permit submission but restrict reading to an authenticated studio administrator. Administrative access to our servers is restricted to key-based authentication, with password logins disabled.
No method of transmission over the internet or of electronic storage is completely secure, so while we use commercially acceptable means to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
International transfers
Our service providers operate globally. Information described in this policy may therefore be processed on servers outside your country, including in the United States. Where information is transferred out of the EEA or the UK, our providers rely on transfer mechanisms approved under those laws, such as the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.
Your rights (EEA, UK, California)
If you are in the EEA or the UK
You have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to its processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time without affecting processing already carried out. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.
If you are in California
You have the right to know what personal information is collected and disclosed, to request its deletion or correction, to limit the use of sensitive personal information, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights.
Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information
We do not sell personal information for money. Serving personalised advertising may qualify as “sharing” for cross-context behavioural advertising under California law. To opt out, do any of the following: decline personalised ads in the app’s consent or privacy option; delete your advertising ID in Settings → Privacy → Ads; or email us at admin@servicezonex.com.
You can submit any privacy request in two ways: by email to admin@servicezonex.com, or through the enquiry form at servicezonex.com.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and post the new version here. If a change materially affects how we handle your information, we will make that clear in the app or on this site. Changes take effect once posted, so please review this page periodically.
